As Rector of Knock Shrine, I am pleased to confirm that Ireland’s International Eucharistic
and Marian Shrine will join with you in prayer on World Rosary Day on the 7th of October
2024. The Rosary is a prayer that is close to the hearts of the people of Ireland, a symbol of
the strong devotion to Our Lady that has been passed down through the generations.
Praying the Rosary is an integral part of the pilgrimage experience at Knock Shrine. This
tradition dates back to the evening of the Apparition at Knock on the 21 st of August 1879.
Every day, pilgrims come together here at Knock Shrine to meditate on the mysteries of the
Rosary – in the silence of the Apparition Chapel, in small groups making the rounds of the
historic Parish Church and as part of the Rosary procession on pilgrimage days.
