The Rosary is central to the Legion’s devotion, serving as a Christ-centered prayer that deepens members’ connection to Jesus through Mary. Many Legionaries in Uganda pray multiple decades of the Rosary daily, seeing it as both a spiritual practice and a divine calling. The Legion of Mary in Uganda, with over 600,000 members, is deeply committed to prayer, service, and evangelization, especially through initiatives like the WorldPriest Rosary for priests’ sanctification.
The text also highlights the historical significance of Edel Quinn, who established the Legion in Uganda in 1938 at Nkokonjeru Parish, now a spiritual hub for annual pilgrimages. Christ the King Parish in Kampala is noted as another vital center of Legionary activity. The movement’s future includes a call to embrace digital evangelization, as Pope Francis has encouraged, to reach the younger generation. Overall, the Rosary remains a pillar of the Legion’s mission, offering a way of life centered on prayer and service.
