We report herewith the invitation letter by the CONFEDERAZIONE DELLE MISERICORDIE D’ITALIA (ITALY) for the WORLD ROSARY DAY 2024
“Dear Brothers and Sisters,
as announced in the communication of last August 9, in view of the Holy Year the
Church has promoted WORLD ROSARY DAY 2024 which will be celebrated all over the world on Monday, October 7
at 7 p.m. according to different time zones.
PEACE will be the main theme of this initiative.
We renew our invitation to you to take this opportunity for a first moment of preparation for the
Jubilee year 2025.
Moreover, it could also be a nice opportunity to activate or resume a
constructive relationship with the whole world of Confraternities that often “inhabit” the ecclesial fabric
of our communities.
The Rosary, as is well known, is the most widespread and historically rooted Marian prayer. We have thought of developing it “on the move,” promoting a small pilgrimage that, starting for example from the Misericordia headquarters, ends in the parish church. We enclose an outline-guide for the possible development of the initiative.
The Confederation will also celebrate World Rosary Day in Florence, together with the Associazione Misericordie Fiorentine, organizing a procession that will start from Piazza Duomo and arrive at the
Basilica of the Santissima Annunziata; the Misericordie Fiorentine Association will also take care of the
organizational and logistical aspects, and therefore local Confraternities can directly refer
reference the Florentine Coordination.
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
H.H. Pope Francis, in preparation for Jubilee 2025, has called for the celebration of a Holy Rosary for Universal Peace on October 7, 2024 at 7 p.m.
World Rosary Day will be celebrated around the world at the same time according to different time zones.
The National Confederation of the Misericordie of Italy, together with the Tuscany Regional Federation and the Coordinamento Misericordie Fiorentine, has identified Florence as the place to pray the rosary, promoting a small processional pilgrimage.
Below is the program, which, subject to possible updates, is as follows:
– 6:30 p.m. gathering of the Confraternities at the headquarters of our Archconfraternity in Piazza Duomo;
– 6:45 p.m. gathering at the Loggia del Bigallo, to pay homage to Our Lady of Mercy;
– 7 p.m. start of pilgrimage to the Basilica of the S.S. Annunziata;
– 7:30 pm arrival at the Basilica of the S.S. Annunziata.
The event will see the participation of H.E. Monsignor Gherardo Gambelli Archbishop of Florence and H.E. Monsignor Franco Agostinelli Corretor of the Misericordie d’Italia.
